Trump embarrassing

In 1958, one of the best-selling novels was “The Ugly American,” a political work by William Lederer and Eugene Burdick, in which they attribute the bad behavior of the U.S. diplomatic corps to their insensitivity to local language, culture, customs and refusal to integrate into the local society.

We are now living with The Ugly American 2.0, with its embodiment in the person of President Donald Trump. He rolled into Washington believing he should be hailed as the conquering hero. His dictatorial approach, lack of understanding and disdain for the U.S. Constitution trample on our strongly-held belief in democracy.

His prime objective upon taking office appeared to be to erase any evidence of former president Barack Obama. He refers to every agreement, treaty, or bill created before he took office as the worst ever and bad for the United States. With numerous problems around the world, numerous ambassadorships to important countries remain unfilled. Rather than the Great Unifier, Trump is the Great Divider.

Trump’s lack of knowledge of many subjects, lack of a filter between his brain and his mouth and his tweeting make him an embarrassment for this great country.
