Don’t use tax money for Trump wall

File art

During the presidential election campaign, Donald Trump’s most oft-repeated promise was that he was going to build a great wall along our southern border and that Mexico was going to pay for it. During budget negotiations with the Congress, Trump now insists that he needs billions of dollars over the next decade to build his wall.

To help him keep his campaign promise, the Congress should include language in the budget bill authorizing construction of the border wall contingent upon receiving the necessary funds from Mexico to pay for it.
