Weary of these ‘Cardiac Cats’
Even though I live in Northern Kentucky, I am a Wildcats fan. I have been for over six decades. I would be the first to admit that University of Kentucky teams have had good years and bad years, so I accept losses that go toward a team’s maturity as players become better over the years.
However, I would not want to coach a pure freshman team like this one. I call them the “Cardiac Cats” because they would give me a heart attack as a coach. They seem to forget everything that the coach taught them at some point in every game.
Sometimes, they lose their focus when they get ahead. Sometimes, they just lose their focus, period. Then they revert to their high-school glory days with individual efforts, but it doesn’t work at the college level. Experienced players and teamwork have always been the hallmark of UK basketball. I miss it.
