Follow NBA players who are native sons
The Jan. 22 paper had some NBA line scores. The first was a game between the Lakers and Knicks. Two players were highlighted in boldface: Julius Randle, part of the 2013-14 University of Kentucky runner-up team, and Enes Kanter, who although enrolled, never played a single minute.
The next score was a game between the Magic and Celtics. Under the Magic was the non-highlighted name of Mack. That, of course, would be Shelvin Mack, who grew up and played high-school ball at Bryan Station as well as three years of college ball at Butler University.
It seems to me that a native son who grew up and played in the same city which appears on your newspaper’s masthead is just as deserving of having his name highlighted as someone who never set foot on a college court.
