Look! A sparkler! Lady fingers!

Even for a city with a history of mediocre and uninspired celebrations of Independence Day, 2018’s fireworks display in Lexington stands as the weakest effort I’ve witnessed in my 45 years in this city. I, myself, have presented better shows with fireworks purchased in Tennessee. I understand our city is on a budget and fireworks are costly, but really? Can’t we splurge just a little and take pride in ourselves, if only once a year?
