Divided we fall...seriously

Having just celebrated our independence, we need to remember what it really means. When the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence, they had no idea what the future would hold. They disagreed on which direction our country should be headed in, yet they united behind the idea of liberty.

It is time that we ease tensions through an open dialogue. Time to put aside party politics and address the issues our country faces, to stop throwing insults and hurtful fallacies around. It is time we, like our forefathers unite for a greater cause. 242 years ago this week, bold patriots gathered to gain the freedoms they so desperately yearned for. It is time we gather again for the freedoms that bind our country.

After all, independence only works when we are united, not divided.
