In response to the criticism of former Woodford County Public Schools Superintendent Paul Stahler’s vote against the proposed Woodford County schools tax hike: Stahler stated facts as they were.

We need to repay what we owe first.

I am a senior with limited income. Any extra tax would be a burden for me. I am still paying off a second mortgage and had to get a new furnace with more borrowed money.

There are others in this beautiful, wonderful county who are having a hard time making ends meet. We would love to see the children have the benefits of a new school, but only if those who can afford it will pay for it. Don’t criticize those of us who can’t.
