John Tackett will honor trust
I have enjoyed meeting so many of you at events and on your doorsteps. I am encouraged by our discussions about bringing innovative ideas to our courts such as introducing an ombudsman and upgrading training for clerks.
It seems judicial independence is diminishing just as it should be gaining strength. I believe both judicial independence and integrity are fundamental to bolstering our legal system.
I am grateful that the editorial board determined that I “… would make an excellent judge.”
I charted a career path to be the best-qualified candidate to serve you. I am the only candidate who has practiced law in 38 counties and in every field of our diverse district court. I am the only candidate with 11 years of judicial experience, appointed by the mayor as a hearing officer to decide code-enforcement cases.
In addition to broad-based community support, including endorsements from a former mayor and vice-mayor, I earned the endorsement of over 200 attorneys who want me as district judge.
Committed to public service, I serve on the LFHC and Affordable Housing Boards while volunteering legal services to Legal Aid of the Bluegrass and others. I previously served and worked with the Makenna Foundation, Young Professional Library Board and National Conference of Community and Justice.
I thank Lexington voters for your kindness and support. If elected I will honor your trust, uphold the law, work extremely hard and remain dedicated to you in public service. Serving you would be the honor of my life.
John Tackett,
Candidate, Fayette District Court
