Unendorsed candidate response

Choose a good neighbor over a career politician

I’m not going to apologize for not being a politician. My name is Jacob Glancy, and recently the Herald-Leader endorsed my opponent to represent Lexington’s 9th district. It seems the decision was made because I am not already a politician.

This is where the paper and so many have gone wrong. We live in a society where so many believe that a career politician is what we need, and I strongly disagree. We need a person who cares more about the people they serve.

The time I have spent raising my children and creating jobs gives me a better perspective to represent the district. We need representation that focuses on things which affect people’s daily lives. We do not need to focus on an agenda that will forward a politician’s career through “progressive” ideas, including the Purchase of Development Rights program, which the paper focused on my opponent’s support of.

The paper left out my endorsements, including from the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #4. The FOP needs a partner on council who will equip them with what they need to make Lexington feel safe again.

The 9th District deserves better than a politician; it deserves a neighbor. Our council member’s main concern should be to see that people in the district live safer and more prosperous lives.

Once again, I’m not a career politician and don’t plan to be. I’m a businessman, family man and your neighbor. From my family to yours, I ask for your vote on Nov. 6.

Jacob Glancy
