McCurn wll better serve 2nd
I would like to begin by thanking the Herald-Leader for the opportunity to sit down and speak with them and discuss the future of the 2nd District and Lexington. While I am disappointed and disagree with their opinion, that is one of the beauties of public service, not always agreeing but still working together.
My platform does go into public safety and economic development, but it includes much, much more. I am a fighter for stronger public schools and programs for our youth to keep them busy and educated.
I believe that transformation begins from within and that our neighborhoods deserve representation that listens to them and works to unite them.
I will be that representation. I will work to highlight community events and resources and to ensure that our parks are clean and inclusive for our family and friends. I am going to change the way we handle communication and remind everyone that your voice is important and heard, not neglected.
As a proud husband and father, president of the McConnell’s Trace Neighborhood Association, president of a business networking chapter, active member of the community, partner of FCPS and more, I understand those who I will represent and will actively work to continue to better understand each neighborhood and invest in our neighborhoods.
I ask for your vote on Nov. 6 because I will represent the district’s needs, fight for our community and safety, and always work for you.
Vote Josh McCurn for Council District 2 on Nov. 6.

Candidate, District 2 Council
Wilburn has broad vision
While I do appreciate the Herald leader for bringing attention to the fact I have articulate and ambitious plans for our district, their support for my opponent is disappointing. The success they tout in their recommendation article is purely status quo and work every council person should be accomplishing.
Anyone who supports me, and our community, knows we need more than the small park improvements that have been made since her time in office. They also know Liberty Road has been in the works for over a decade.
The needs of our district are far larger than that. We need to improve our economy, we need a community center, we need to create points of interest that residents want to visit and explore, we need to clean up the New Circle Road Corridor and, most importantly, we are tired of being ignored by the leaders downtown. I am the anti-politician and am registered as an independent.
I don’t want the influence of outside interest groups telling us what we need. I ran because I can no longer sit back and watch success from outsiders being described as small projects that are minimal in comparison to the large projects and support other districts receive.
Let’s keep fighting for what we deserve. It is time we stop settling for status quo. I appreciate and am proud of what attention we are bringing our side of town. We deserve to be ambitious and have big plans. Thank you.
