Stop gun violence

I cannot believe I am living in America when I hear about another massacre (this time in Pittsburgh) with an AR-15 automatic rifle. I was even more incredulous to hear our creepy president proclaiming that the people in the synagogue “should have had an armed guard.” This is blaming the victims.

Then to learn that our president takes time to become the world leader of baseball critics within hours of the killings is beyond my comprehension. This appears to be another tack to distract the media and the people from really important problems. To quote probably America’s greatest president, Abraham Lincoln, who belonged to what used to be the Republican Party, “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

The president, Congress and the courts need to revisit the Second Amendment, stop taking tons of money from the National Rifle Association and pass gun control legislation to prevent tragedies such as Pittsburgh.

No more assault weapons

I live in rural Woodford County, and one would think that gun violence is only in the outside world. Then a gunman walks into a Louisville grocery and shoots two people, and someone in adjoining Anderson County is stopped on his way to mass murder in a school. Today, my son and daughter-in-law were exercising at a Jewish community center in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood in Pittsburgh while next door 11 people were being slaughtered in a synagogue. How can we sit quietly by and let this continue?

I was raised in a hunting culture and I fully understand about the use of guns in sport, but this carnage is tearing our country apart. There is no place in a civilized society for assault weapons, except in the trained hands of our police forces or armed services. It is time for people to demand that their representatives ignore the dollars they receive for burying their heads in the sand and do what is right for our country, or it is time for new representatives. I love this country too much to simply watch and wait.

Caravan conspiracy

Donald Trump founded and bankrolled MS-13 in order to stir up unrest in Central America causing this influx of refugees/ asylum seekers. He did this so he would have a “whipping boy” plank to extol to his faithful. Now, I’m not saying there is any proof of this or that it can be verified but it might be that others are involved. I don’t know, maybe the Chinese or a 400 pound guy sitting in a chair somewhere.

Trump believes the unbelievable

In typical bromance fashion, Donald Trump says he believes Kim Jong Un when he says he will destroy North Korea’s nuclear weapons. Why? Kim told him so. Trump also believes Vladimir Putin when Putin says Russia did not interfere with the U.S. elections. Why? Putin told him so. Trump now believes Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Sulman when he says Saudi Arabia had nothing to do with the death of Jamal Khashoggi. Why? bin Sulman told Trump so. Being as gullible as he is, hope Trump doesn’t mention anything about Santa. But truth be told, we’re all smart enough to know which one is the real fake.
