In November, you can pick a convicted felon or an accomplished prosecutor | Opinion

Candidate comparison

Vice President Kamala Harris’s resume: Intelligent, accomplished, District Attorney, Attorney General, U.S. Senator, Vice President and possibly soon to be 47th President of the United States.

Former President Donald J. Trump’s resume: Arrogant , ignorant, adjudicated rapist, adjudicated fraudster, 34 time convicted felon, loser, failed and disgraced President and the presidential nominee Republicans are stuck with.

The choice is clear.

DEI candidate

Some of former President Donald Trump’s supporters have taken to calling Vice President Kamala Harris a “DEI hire.” That is an ironic accusation from people whose candidate tried to Destroy Election Integrity; who Disgracefully Engineered Insurrection; who embraces Project 2025’s Destructive Evil Ideology; who urges a Disastrous Excise on Imports; who Defrauded Economic Institutions; who thought Disinfectant an Effective Injection against Covid-19; who Doesn’t Exude Intelligence; who brags about his Dark Erotic Impulses yet Denies Evidence of Infidelity; who Delivers Endless Insults; who wants to Deport Employed Immigrants; whose Debts Exceed Income; who Does Everything Illegally; who Didn’t Evade Impeachment and Didn’t Escape Indictment and Didn’t Earn Immunity, but whose U.S. Supreme Court Justices issued a Declaration of Executive Independence; whose Destiny Encompasses Imprisonment; and who if elected will insure that Democracy Ends Immediately.

There is a DEI candidate in this election, but it is not Kamala Harris.

Vance advice

This letter is in response to Wayne Burns’ recent Letter to the Editor. You advised Gov. Andy Beshear to stay away from Vice President Kamala Harris, but did you issue the same warning to J.D. Vance about former President Donald Trump? If not, your politics are showing and it is not a pretty sight.

Our governor has done a great job leading this state away from the damage done by former Gov. Matt Bevin. And he would do a great job leading this country away from the damage done by Trump. Beshear, like the other candidates for vice president, is intelligent, compassionate, moral and stands by his convictions. The good kind of convictions. Not the Trump kind.

King Trump

If Donald Trump is elected king,

The very, very wealthy will become the nobles,

The working class will become the peasants,

And the poor will become desperate and abused.

Worst of all, the Corporations will become God,

And the Church will serve Him.

Welcome to the New Dark Ages.

False balance

I’m writing in response to Paul Prather’s recent column. I normally agree with 98 percent of what Prather writes. But I want to call him out on something he wrote in Sunday’s column. There’s a concept called “false balance,” known colloquially as “bothsidesism.”

False balance is a bias in which journalists present an issue as being more balanced between opposing viewpoints than the evidence supports. His opinion is that Christian leaders push scary news at their congregants to control them by keeping them thinking they’re persecuted and that everyone who’s not in their sect is out to get them. He says that “each side tells you that the other side is evil incarnate and that, if the other side wins, democracy is lost and we’ll be living in a right-wing dictatorship with Trump as our new Hitler.” Prather implies that in today’s political contest both sides are equally culpable. I take strong issue with this position. Trump has told us he’ll be a dictator from “Day 1.” Former President Donald Trump has told us that if he is elected there will be no more elections. There is nothing nearly equivalent to that from the Democratic side!

Project 2025

The Republican candidate for President, former President Donald Trump, commented on July 26 at The Believers Summit that if you vote for him and he wins you “won’t have to vote again.” That statement was chilling to me! One of the most sacred rights we have as Americans is the right to vote!

Voting is THE way we can make our voices heard! Yet, he acts like not voting is something we want; when the truth is, it is something he wants! When you put together his comment on voting and Project 2025, it results in an end to our democracy and the beginning of a kingship! Our forefathers fought a war with England to rid America of rule by a king; yet he yearns to be king of America. Project 2025 would fulfill his yearning! If you have not read it; then you must find out what horrors it contains. Overall, It increases the power of the presidency and breaks down any checks and balances now in place. It is a detailed plan for the destruction of our democracy. So, when he says you won’t have to vote again, he means it literally! Beware!

Fake Christian

I am a Christian, and I desperately need your money and your moral support. Ignore that I don’t attend religious services on any kind of schedule; I am not an active member of any church; Sunday morning is exclusively for golfing; I don’t pray or read the bible; I don’t have a favorite bible verse; I have never been baptized; I don’t take communion; I don’t tithe; I’ve never accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior; religious puffery is the corner stone of my faith; I value earthly possessions far more than anything else; and the Ten Commandments are suggestions that don’t really apply to me. Follow my lead because I am the way and the truth about this world.Believe me, I am a genuine Christian. Throw your misgivings and concerns to the wind. I need your money and your moral support now and all through the upcoming election season this fall.

Olympic opening

The Paris Olympics blasphemous Last Supper do-over with drag queens just reinforces the slow slide of humanity and decency in all society, here and in Europe.

I’ll pass on watching the Olympics. Mass illegal immigration coupled with outrageous inflation, sanctuary city crime crises (see N.Y. and San Francisco) and tolerated anti-Jewish sentiment is the slow slide of real leadership. Vice President Kamala Harris is not the answer. She helped create the problem.

It’s time people of all colors rise to help stop the madness of the current administration.

Vote for stability, not liberal jargon.
