Prayer for Paris

Paris is my favorite city in the world. Its grandeur, sophistication, beauty and charm are matchless. It grieves me beyond words that deadly terrorism of great magnitude hit the French capital. Despite the emotional pain it caused me, I watched the TV coverage of this tragedy for hours.

Paris is called the “City of Light,” meaning enlightenment. The terrorists who killed more than 129 people represent the vilest darkness.

Evil has always existed in the world. We have to deal with that grim reality every day. Yet I believe that Paris will rise from these ashes, just as it did after its liberation from the Nazis.

Meanwhile, I pray that God will grant those who lost friends and relatives in this horror — and those who love Paris as I do — the strength and courage to face the days and years ahead.
