An improper analogy

In his Jan. 29 commentary, “Ask Packers fans about socialism’s benefits,” Michael Rivage-Suel made the same error in calling the Green Bay Packers’ ownership socialism as Karl Marx made in calling the early Christian community “simple communism.” Both situations involve individuals voluntarily choosing to donate for the common good.

The socialism that Rivage-Suel espouses and the communism that Marx advocated are not voluntary. They are government imposed.

Both men misused familiar examples to appeal to shallow thinkers. Socialism is a major danger for our form of government. Think deeper. Do not be misled.
