Paul’s stance principled
An analysis in the Feb. 4 Herald-Leader attributes U.S. Sen. Rand Paul’s failed attempt to win the Republican presidential nomination to Republicans’ increased support for military intervention in response to ISIS-inspired terrorism.
In reality, Paul’s position of using our military power essentially in self-defense is rooted in ethics and reason.
Our recent history of involvement in Asian wars is a tragic chapter in American history. Paul was the “peace” candidate in this Republican primary. His voice was prophetic in Republican forums.
One does not need to be a libertarian to appreciate a principled call to non-violent conflict resolution.
