Snow more griping, please
If I have to read one more letter to the editor about Gov. Matt Bevin not being in Kentucky during the recent “snow crisis,” I’m going to scream. Just what do you all think Bevin was going to do personally for all those motorists stranded on Interstate 75?
First, the snowfall was not a surprise. It had been forecast for at least five days. While the predictions about the actual inches of snow varied, we all were made aware that snow was coming.
Second, even great snow cities like Buffalo, N.Y., have a difficult time clearing snow on expressways during heavy snowfall. People get stranded on I 90 all the time.
And lastly, there are many ways to prepare oneself for a big snow event — take it from me, a native western New Yorker.
I think Lexington did fine. Schools were closed in anticipation of the snow, and streets were plowed and salted. I hope Bevin enjoyed his time in New Hampshire.
