Great-grandfather waiting
The state pays $90 to $140 a day per child in foster care. The Cabinet for Health and Family Services loves spending taxpayers’ money. Keep families together, it says. After the cabinet’s drug test, home check and record check — all good — my four grandsons are still in foster care. Family Services still wants to give them away. All for the simple reason that I’m a great-grandfather. After a year, it is frustrating. The case workers make up rules as they go. It seems like I should deserve a little respect for being a veteran. I guess not.
We are family.
