Have no fear, U.S. is strong
If we have nothing to fear but fear itself, then America, according to right wing and Tea Party types, should be terrified.
They seem to be afraid of everything. Death by terrorist is around every corner, if not from some scary foreigner, then from the federal government itself.
They cherry-pick economic statistics to deny unemployment declines and job growth since the Great Recession.
They scream about the war on their values and patriotism while trolling the Internet describing the president and his family with brutal racial slurs and questioning his love of America.
The politicians and “journalists” they look up to make careers and millions of dollars reinforcing irrational fear and hate.
They bemoan the decline in the size of our military without mentioning that it is the most technologically advanced and powerful on the planet. Think more computers and smart bombs, fewer flame throwers and bayonets.
The truth is, America is still great, the strongest economic, military and political power on the planet. Everyone wants to be us, not the other way around.
Sadly, it is easier to follow fear and hate than lead and be fearless and hopeful.
