Larry Hopkins: Kasich skilled, honorable
I served in Congress with John Kasich on the House Armed Services Committee where we decided what was needed, as well as what was not needed to protect America and military servicemen and women. He also served on the Investigations Subcommittee where most meetings were closed to the public because the issues discussed were classified.
He was adept at working with people from the White House, as well as with bureaucrats and generals from the Pentagon and CEOs from the military-industrial complex. I can attest that Kasich’s character and thoughtful study were always influential on those committees.
John also served as chairman of the House Budget Committee, which balanced the budget in the mid-1990s when Bill Clinton was president. And let’s not forget his two terms as governor of Ohio, where he balanced the budget, reduced spending and unemployment.
As witnessed on the presidential campaign trail, Kasich is a compassionate man with high moral values. He is my friend and I am proud to support him. But, more importantly for this country, he is ready to lead now. I’m an old marine and I’d be proud to share my foxhole with him.
I trust John Kasich and so can you.
Larry Hopkins
