Evangelicals divided in presidential race

One of the perplexing things of this year’s Republican ensemble is how it has divided evangelicals. Perhaps it’s because we have a non-typical candidate: Donald Trump.

Watching the candidates on the debate stage makes defining an authentic evangelical complicated. Evangelicals are a lot like an assorted box of chocolates or tray of fruit. They try to find a candidate who represents their values, but I am not quite sure what their values really are. I guess this is why there is such division.

Evangelicals preach that being Christian is not about works, that their savior died to remove accountability for the sinner. Well, Trump says he is a Christian. If he says he is Christian then he is just that. Trump has exposed evangelical frailty. Just as in James 2:14-26, admit it evangelicals, your faith is about your deeds. At least recognize what your book says.
