Many downtown holes

I think people are hearing only half the CentrePointe story. Just look at how many vacant lots are in downtown. No one wants to build and invest in downtown Lexington, and you can bet there is a reason.

Vacant lots include the obvious big hole at Main and Limestone, both south corners of West High Street and Broadway, the corner of East Main and Vine Street and the west corner of West Maxwell and Broadway. There is also the area along Manchester Street that should be developed. All have been vacant for years. Most cities have a hard time finding land to build on downtown, but Lexington has plenty.

The city is fast trying to put the blame someplace. That speaks volumes.

Lexington is a wonderful city and it’s a shame that we don’t know how to build a prosperous downtown and bring developers and businesses that want to help us grow financially. City hall does not need to go into the space. CentrePointe needs to have a good financial impact on downtown.
