Water rate hike outrageous
The water company wants a 17.5 percent increase in residential rates. Wow.
The notice says that rates have not increased since late 2012. By contrast, Social Security recipients received no cost-of-living adjustment for this year. The total cost-of-living increase for the past three years has been only 3.2 percent.
Thus, the water company wants an increase that is more than fivefold the inflation rate.
How many workers are expecting a 17.5 percent pay hike this year? How much has the water company CEO’s salary risen during the past three years?
This proposed rate hike is simply outrageous.
