Protect pollinators

The article “Pollinators in dire need of help” described the plight of these important but largely unwanted creatures.

Can we help them out here on our farms and in our own backyards? Yes. By not mowing every square inch of our yards we can create additional areas for them to exist. Why not designate areas of our property to be wild, even as we do wetlands for waterfowl? Can city ordinances allow for this? How about deciding to not use suspected outdoor chemicals, since they may be the main cause of the pollinators’ demise?

Maybe we should view each of these creatures as if it were the last one on Earth, since it may actually come to that if we don't change our harmful ways.
