Socialism isn’t a bad thing

Paul Prather’s March 6 column had this comment: “However, Sanders is 74 years old. And a socialist, for crying out loud.”

So what is so bad about being a socialist? Prather should come out of the Tea Party woods and recognize, like most of civilization, that socialism is not communism. For examples of socialism, take a look at Scandinavian countries. One example is Norway, ranked No. 1 in charitable giving per capita. You can’t be much more Christian than that.

Most of the Scandinavian countries also rank very high in education, health care, life expectancy and, for good measure, severe drunk driving laws. Yes, the taxes are high, but that apparently has not precluded their elevated lifestyle and relative lack of public official corruption.
