More access to clerks’ offices
Why do we have satellite clerks’ offices in Fayette County that perform only the most basic services: driver’s license renewal and change of address?
The Helix parking garage, which is closest to the main clerk’s office downtown, is dark, dirty and inconvenient to use.
I recently experienced two extremely stressful situations trying to access the main office. I was recovering from tendon surgery and had to place my leg on a scooter and navigate a corkscrew ramp downhill before I could enter the building to acquire a handicapped sticker. When I drove into the garage more recently, the token machine was empty, and the arm would not go up. Four cars drove up behind me. We could not get anyone to answer the help button. To get out, we all had to back downhill and into Main Street traffic.
Why can’t all services be offered at the other locations, especially in situations where easier parking is crucial?
