Neighbor doing her part

There are many nice and wonderful people in Central Kentucky, and I would like to recognize a very special person who happens to be a nearby neighbor. Her name is Lana Bishop.

After having both knees replaced, Lana is dedicated in her effort to walk every day. Her path runs along Alumni Drive from Taborlake Drive to Chinoe Road and back. In driving along Alumni, I had seen her dragging a bag as she walked.

I recently asked why she always seemed to have a bag with her. Come to find out, she takes a bag each day to pick up any trash along her path. She told me that some days, the bag gets so heavy she has to tie it up and leave it for pick-up.

There are so many people who do small things to make our community better. I wanted to recognize Lana for her efforts and to let her know that I truly appreciate her part in the beautification of Lexington.
