GOP deserves voters’ anger

Voters should be angry at Sen. Mitch McConnell and his fellow Republicans who decided the night of President Barack Obama’s first inauguration to flatly oppose anything the president proposed and then blame him for every ill besetting mankind. They were successful.

Legislation that would have improved our crumbling infrastructure and created jobs, immigration reform, education aid and on and on was never brought up. All kinds of needed legislation could have been discussed, amended, publicized and compromised on, and might have truly improved the well-being of us all. The result: gridlock. The reason: Make Obama a one-term president.

How about representing the people, instead of being so focused on disrespect for and destruction of our president? How about senators doing their jobs instead of spending 30 hours a week dialing for dollars?

At the state level, Republicans have taken over due to decreased turnout at the polls. How is that working out for Flint, Mich., Kansas, Wisconsin and Kentucky?

Nationally, the Republicans have Donald Trump. Never mind that he has no coherent proposals, only that all will be “huge” and “amazing.” Trump is a fascist who would have his finger on the nuclear button. Hitler was also considered a clown and initially not taken seriously. The rest is history. Let’s hope it doesn’t become our history.
