Letters to the Editor

Denying climate reality

The week of April 17, the paper was inundated by seemingly coordinated letters from the local flat-earth society, aka climate-change deniers.

With each year and month registering higher temperatures than the one before it, with the coral reefs of the Great Barrier Reef bleaching and dying, with the Antarctic ice caps melting and with ocean levels rising, one would think that the time for such incredible displays of ignorance had long since passed. But, like the 17 ignoramuses who ran for the Republican Party nomination for president, these people will never admit that their lies and made-up “facts” amount to no more than the distilled ignorance of the Koch brothers’ fossil fuel industry push-back against reality.
