Senators’ votes failed us
This week, the U.S. Senate voted on a commonsense proposal to require the same background checks that retail gun stores abide by to sales at gun shows and flea markets. Sens. Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell voted against this bill, leaving the way clear for convicted felons, the mentally ill or even potential terrorists on the No Fly List to easily purchase military-grade weapons.
As a gun owner, I can’t express strongly enough that our senators have failed our citizens.
