Now that the governor has lost his bid to have Planned Parenthood fined for a “deficient license application” at a Louisville facility that performs abortions, may I suggest another crusade?
How about taking on the nursing homes that have repeated deficiencies and fines for not being in compliance with basic state regulations? Allowing that industry to repeatedly correct their deficiencies without making long-term changes has real consequences for one of our most vulnerable populations.
Maybe this administration, along with our legislators, could start with shutting down the industry when it lobbies against minimum staffing ratios for safe patient care. Let’s see whether this administration is really ready to end “pay to play” in Kentucky.
