I am a senior with physical disabilities. I need to know that in an emergency first responders can get to me in the shortest time possible.
At 8:10 a.m. July 2, as I was waiting for Wheels in front of Kroger on Tates Creek Road, I heard a rescue vehicle coming from the north on Tates Creek. As it approached Man o’ War Boulevard it slowed to clear the intersection and continue south. Despite lights and sirens visible and audible to all, some eastbound cars on Man o’ War kept going.
This is just one example of many I see. I ask those drivers if they would be in such a hurry if they or a family member were waiting for the rescue unit.
Our first responders need help from all of us. Thinking of others first can be a hugely rewarding feeling.
