McConnell ducking blame on Zika response
Why am I not surprised to read sanctimonious propaganda from Sen. Mitch McConnell about funding Zika virus prevention?
Senate Democrats refused to support House Republican additions to the legislation that would reduce funding for Planned Parenthood, defund parts of the Affordable Care Act and reverse a ban on flying Confederate flags in military cemeteries.
Sens. Roy Blunt and Patty Murray co-sponsored a bipartisan funding package that passed the Senate in May. That measure provided the same $1.1 billion funding level, without the added restrictions and cuts.
If McConnell truly wanted to do something about Zika, he would have supported the bipartisan bill. Instead, he chooses petty politics over Americans’ well being. His obstructionist, partisan maneuvering is an embarrassment to Kentucky and the United States
