Name school after John Price

I would like the new Fayette County high school to be named for the late John D. Price, former Fayette County school board chairman.

As a parent of an elementary school child in the late 1980s, I attended the 16th District PTA meetings, representing my son’s school PTA. I remember seeing only one man in the meeting room representing a PTA. In later years, I came to know that man as John Price. He worked for the children of our school district for many years before being elected to the school board and eventually becoming chairman. For more than 25 years, Price volunteered his time and talents for the betterment of our children’s education.

I got to know him well through his work at our church. He was a very humble man, always kind and patient. I was honored to call him my friend.

These are only a few reasons, I would like for John Price to be honored by the school district he served so proudly. If he were here today he would humbly laugh at the mere suggestion, but I, along with many other Fayette County residents, think he deserves this honor.
