Rename airport for Secretariat

Lexington is the horse capital of the world. Secretariat, the greatest horse who ever lived, whose festival is coming up in Paris, just outside Lexington, on Sept. 16-18, should be memorialized much the same way as Man o’ War, who has a boulevard named after him. Why doesn’t Lexington rename Blue Grass Airport to Secretariat Airport at Lexington? All other airports are named after celebrities or politicians, like Reagan International Airport or Kennedy International Airport.

Lexington would benefit by having its major airport named for Secretariat, not a ground cover, which actually is not blue, or a hemp plant nickname like grass.

Secretariat, the ninth Triple Crown winner, still holds the record in all three Triple Crown races and he deserves this honor.
