Blacks won’t yield to Trump’s bullying
Donald Trump is trying to bully the black community into voting for him while at the same time trying to stop former felons who have served their debt to society from voting at all.
More than a quarter-million Kentuckians don’t have the right to vote right now because of our archaic voting laws and Gov. Matt Bevin’s actions to restrict voting rights. Because of this and inequalities in our criminal justice system, 1 in 5 voting-age black people can’t vote in this state.
I’m a former felon. I’m also a mother of two, grandmother of eight, former University of Kentucky Lady Kat, an African-American, citizen, taxpayer and a leader in my community. I deserve the right to vote.
Trump wants people to be afraid of their neighbors. Don’t be; we all need to work together.
If Trump thinks that he can bully the black community into voting for him while at the same time trying to keep many of us from voting, he should think again.
