Blame industry for coal woes

I have lived in the Eastern Kentucky coalfields area for 35 years. Almost everyone in the area is a coal miner or is affiliated with coal in some form.

People here believe that President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have caused the downfall of coal as Sen. Mitch McConnell talks of Obama’s “war on coal.” That is not true. The clean-coal energy program has been in effect since the Reagan administration.

All coal companies knew that changes were inevitable but failed to pass the information to their hard-working employees in the coal industry. So to try to save face, the companies blamed Obama. The industry had years to comply with the clean energy law, but disregarded it

People should learn the truth before they point fingers.
