“You can’t solve a problem with the mind that created it” — Albert Einstein.

This saying is something that I found to be very true and maybe the main reason for how my love for traveling and exploring different cultures grew. While traveling, I also came across the unfortunate reality that women across the world face: the obstacles due to gender inequality that women overcome daily with astonishing creativity and hard work, which is often believed to be the duty of women.

At a very early age, I started to become aware of these inequalities, and over the years of research and study in Europe, South Africa, and now, the United States, it is obvious to me that we as a society are making only very slow progress in breaking down these barriers. That’s why I decided to do something about it and started Ziva Voices together with other women and some male allies. We are now an organization that brings women from all over the world together to share and learn from one another.

On Oct. 12, the Kentucky Theatre will be the stage for a remarkable event presented by Ziva Voices - HerStory in the Making. Beginning at 6 p.m., the event promises to be an inspiring celebration of women’s accomplishments across various industries with speakers from Kentucky, South Africa, Mexico, Spain, and the UK.

The tagline for this event encapsulates its essence: “An evening at the Kentucky Theatre with women changing the global landscape.” Indeed, it captures the spirit of Ziva Voices, a platform designed to spotlight women who’ve excelled in the entertainment business, arts, eco-entrepreneurship, healthcare, and technology. They’re not just successful; they’re pioneers who’ve turned challenges into opportunities.

This event embodies the core values of Ziva Voices — amplifying diverse voices and narratives with the motto “One voice is never enough.” The event titled “HerStory in the Making,” emphasizes the transformative power of women uniting to shape industries and effect global change.

The women taking the stage on Oct. 12 aren’t just successful; they’re pioneers who’ve navigated male-dominated territories, shattered glass ceilings and emerged as leaders. In the entertainment business, they’ve written, directed, produced, and starred in productions captivating global audiences. In the arts, their creativity challenges conventions, offering unique perspectives that provoke thought. In eco-entrepreneurship, they’ve founded sustainable companies, demonstrating that businesses can thrive while being environmentally responsible and creating circular economies.

Circular is the key — not only for our speakers but also for us as an organization. That’s why, instead of bringing this event to a major metropolitan area, we chose to host it in Lexington — it shows the spirit of being not only diverse and inclusive on stage but also showcasing that smaller regions can be a hub for innovation, social and environmental entrepreneurship. We want to demonstrate how cities such as Lexington and their welcoming and supportive environments play pivotal roles in bringing change to the world while creating safe environments for women to come together.

Join us on Oct. 12 for the inaugural event of “HerStory in the Making” and become part of bringing ‘The World the Lexington and Lexington to the World. This event is for all genders, ages, and cultures. We are very much looking for seeing you.
