The Lexington Legends scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and went on to defeat the Long Island Ducks 6-3 in Game 3 of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball World Series on Monday night at Lexington Legends Ballpark. The Legends lead the best-of-five series 2-1.

The Ducks had scored two runs on a Deibinson Romero home run in the top of the eighth to tie the game at 3-all.

Lexington’s response in the bottom of the frame came after the first two batters went down in order.

Then Denis Phipps walked, Ben Revere doubled him in, Roberto Baldoquin scored Revere on a single and advanced to third on an error, and Juan Silverio knocked Baldoquin in with a single.

Christian Correa hit a home run for the Legends in the third, and Silverio singled in two more runs in the sixth.

Game 4 was scheduled for Tuesday night and Game 5, if necessary, Wednesday night, also in Lexington.

Lexington is vying for its third consecutive minor league baseball championship. The Legends won South Atlantic League titles in 2018 and 2019. The 2020 SAL season was canceled because of COVID-19. The Legends moved to the ALPB ahead of the 2021 season.
