Wild win 3-2 in overtime to even up series vs. Stars
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Wild have turned their first-round matchup against the Dallas Stars into a best-of-three.
They rallied for a 3-2 overtime win in Game 4 at Grand Casino Arena to even up the series 2-2.
Game 5 is Tuesday night in Dallas.
Matt Boldy deflected in a Jared Spurgeon shot with 28.9 seconds left in overtime to polish off the Wild's comeback after a late tying goal from Marcus Foligno, who went over Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger to poke the puck in with 5:20 to go in the third period.
Before that, the Stars stuck with the same strategy that's worked for them all playoffs: They dominated special teams, scoring on both their power plays and going a perfect 4 for 4 on the penalty kill.
Jason Robertson had his fourth goal of the series 5:35 into the first period, one-timing in a rebound while the Wild's Ryan Hartman was serving a goaltender interference penalty.
Brock Faber responded for the Wild late in the first when his shot banked in off Miro Heiskanen's glove, but Heiskanen capped off a second-period takeover for Dallas by connecting on a top-shelf shot during the Stars' second power play with 35 seconds left.
The Wild, still missing Mats Zuccarello, blanked on all four of their power plays and are 3 for 19 in the series; two of those goals came in Game 1 before Zuccarello exited the lineup after getting elbowed by Tyler Myers.
Dallas, meanwhile, has gone 8 for 19 on the power play.
Oettinger finished with 43 saves, and Jesper Wallstedt had 41 for the Wild.
