Fever Coach Stephanie White Addresses Caitlin Clark's Shooting Performance

The Indiana Fever opened their 2026 WNBA preseason schedule with a 109-91 victory over the New York Liberty on Saturday afternoon.

This outing marked the highly-anticipated return of Caitlin Clark, who missed the majority of the 2025 WNBA season as she dealt with a variety of injury issues.

Clark took the court for just 17 minutes in Saturday’s game, ramping up her activity as the Fever approach the beginning of the regular season. The All-Star point guard had a rough shooting day, scoring seven points on 2 of 10 shooting from the field and 1 of 5 shooting from behind the 3-point arc.

Fever head coach Stephanie White evaluated Clark’s performance when speaking to reporters in a postgame press conference.

“She was good. We play differently when she’s on the floor, so learning how to play with her in action - I thought she was good,” White said. “She didn’t force anything. she played with great intention in everything that she did. She was in the flow, she was communicating at a high level.

“If we’re talking about the shot making, that’s going to come. They play her differently in the [WNBA] than they do in international basketball. We’ve just got to find ways to free her up to get her some easy looks.”

Clark only appeared in 13 games for the Fever in 2025, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5 rebounds per game - shooting 36.7% from the field and 27.9% from behind the 3-point arc.

Clark and the Fever will take the court for their next preseason matchup against the Dallas Wings on April 30.
