Angel Reese Makes Unexpected Jalen Duren Move During WNBA Preseason

Angel Reese is days away from suiting up in an Atlanta Dream jersey for the first time. The Dream acquired the two-time WNBA All-Star from the Chicago Sky in exchange for first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, bringing an end to her two year tenure with the team that drafted her 7th overall in 2024.

Reese joins a core that already includes Rhyne Howard, Allisha Gray, Brionna Jones, Jordin Canada and Naz Hillmon, a group that went 30-14 last season in the best campaign in franchise history.

The Dream open their preseason Friday against Reese's former team before closing out the preseason Sunday against the Washington Mystics. Their regular season begins May 10 on the road against the Minnesota Lynx.

As Reese prepares to make her debut, she has also been spending time supporting her boyfriend Wendell Carter Jr., whose team, the Orlando Magic, is currently in the middle of an NBA playoff run.

Orlando defeated the Detroit Pistons 94-88 in Game 4 on Monday, taking a commanding 3-1 series lead and putting the top-seeded Pistons one loss away from elimination. The moment of the night came in the fourth quarter, when Magic forward Jamal Cain caught a transition look, drove straight at Pistons center Jalen Duren, and threw down a thunderous one-handed slam that sent Duren stumbling backward onto the baseline.

The dunk, which was shared on the Magic's Instagram page, immediately took over the internet. Reese wasted no time reposting the clip of her rumored ex-boyfriend getting dunked on for her 5.2 million followers to see.

It is not the first time she has posted a clip of Duren on the receiving end of a dunk. When the Orlando Magic beat Detroit 112-101 in Game 1, Reese posted a video of Carter hauling in a lob from Paolo Banchero and slamming it past her ex.

In the summer of 2024, Reese was rumored to be dating Duren after the two posted from what appeared to be the same vacation location at the same time. Neither Reese nor Duren ever confirmed the relationship, though Reese was spotted wearing Pistons gear around that period, and the speculation was widespread.

It appears she has since moved on. Carter subtly alluded to their relationship after he said the pair were "locked in" during an appearance on the NBA show "Run It Back" in November. She has supported him courtside on multiple occasions, including at the Magic's game against the Memphis Grizzliesin Berlin and at a Magic vs. Los Angeles Lakersgame in March.

The posts aimed at Duren's direction have not gone unnoticed, and the internet has had a field day connecting the dots.
