Sophie Cunningham Tells Angel Reese to ‘Move On' Amid Rumored Drama
Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham didn’t shy away from sharing her thoughts about her on-court opponent, Angel Reese, and the drama involving an NBA “love triangle.”
Reese, who got traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream this offseason, has reportedly datedOrlando Magic star Wendell Carter Jr. since last year and has actively shown support during his NBA games.
That includes Reese taking to social media to celebrate his and his team’s big moments, including one of Carter Jr.’s teammates dunking on Detroit Pistons star Jalen Duren, who is rumored to be Reese’s ex.
The slam dunk highlight occurred during Orlando’s Game 4 win in their first-round playoff series against the higher-seeded Pistons, who have since eliminated the Magic from the postseason.
However, it became one of the trending sports gossip topics that Cunningham and her co-host, West Wilson, discussed on the “Show Me Something” podcast.
They also talked on the headline-making affair involving New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel and reporter Diania Russini, as well as the messy split between rapper Megan Thee Stallion and NBA star Klay Thompson.

Regarding Reese’s situation, podcast producer Kevin Lo explained that Reese was posting multiple highlights of Carter Jr and the Magic doing well against the Pistons. However, it was that April Instagram Story post that caught recent attention, featuring the Magic player dunking on Duren.
Lo also mentioned that Duren and Reese were previously “dating on the low,” but that she’s been more public with Carter Jr. from Orlando and seems to be more so lately with her Magic fandom.
“Something had to have happened for I don’t know, her to want to embarrass [Duren],” Cunningham suggested after hearing from Lo about the situation on her podcast.
“Or nothing happened,” Wilson replied, with Cunningham saying, “Valid.”
“But then move on, worry about your current boyfriend,” the Fever star said as her advice to Reese during the podcast.
Whether there was some shade thrown or not, Reese can now move on from social media posts featuring her rumored ex, thanks to her boyfriend and the Magic’s first-round exit. Despite taking a 3-1 series lead over the No. 1-seeded Pistons, Orlando lost the next three games, which led to its elimination.
In addition, Reese is moving on with a new team, as she and the Atlanta Dream begin their WNBA regular season schedule with a Saturday road game against the Minnesota Lynx.
Cunningham is back with the Fever, where she’s now recovered from last season’s brutal injury that took her out ahead of her team’s near-run to the WNBA Finals.
In addition, teammate Caitlin Clark is back to full health, bringing excitement again as Indiana has a healthy roster ahead of its season opener at home on Saturday against the Dallas Wings.
Reese and the Dream will visit Cunningham and the Fever on June 4 for an on-court clash.
