Is OG Anunoby Ready For Eastern Conference Finals? Knicks Fans Are Worried

Will the New York Knicks have OG Anunoby for the Eastern Conference Finals? That seems to be the No. 1 question in the Big Apple this weekend.

Anunoby suffered a hamstring injury in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. His absence didn't prevent the Knicks from sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers, but make no mistake, they want him back for their upcoming showdown with either the Cleveland Cavaliers or Detroit Pistons.

According to ESPN's Vincent Goodwill, the Knicks are optimistic that Anunoby will be ready for the start of the Eastern Conference Finals.

"Anunoby went through portions of Knicks practice Wednesday, but did not go through anything live, according to Knicks coach Mike Brown," Goodwill said. "He was seen shooting following the session, with Brown adding that Anunoby also went through an individual workout."

Stefan Bondy of the New York Post initially reported that Anunoby wasn't in uniform for Friday's practice. Naturally, that led to fans panicking about the two-way star's status for the Eastern Conference Finals.

"I like the idea of him resting, but if he is planning to play Sunday at 3:30, (a possibility) I would imagine they would want to get him up to speed," one fan wrote on X. "So starting to get a little worried."

"He's not gonna be ready," a Knicks fan said. "Hamstring injuries take long time to heal."

"It's ok. Let him get healthy. We 'NEED' HIM AT 100%. I'm sure when he's ready he'll be at practice and ready to go," another fan declared.

Luckily for the Knicks, head coach Mike Brown said Anunoby scrimmaged and "did everything we did in practice." That's a great sign for Game 1.

There's no denying OG's impact.

Anunoby is averaging 21.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game this postseason. He's been incredibly efficient from the field, knocking down 61.9% of his shots.

If the Knicks are going to make it to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, they'll need Anunoby back on the floor making plays.

Hopefully, Anunoby will be ready for the start of the Eastern Conference Finals.
