Knicks' Jose Alvarado Delivers Clear Warning to Victor Wembanyama

Victor Wembanyama got away with a hard foul on Jalen Brunson during the first quarter of Monday night’s Game 3 matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks.

The 7-foot-4 Frenchman shoved the 6-foot-2 point guard in the back of the head as they battled for position at the free-throw line. Game officials, led by crew chief Marc Davis, failed to call a foul at the time.

On Tuesday, the NBA‘s head of officiating Monty McCutchen admitted that referees missed the call. The NBA is conducting a review to determine if Wembanyama should be issued a retroactive flagrant foul.

When asked about the incident on Tuesday, Knicks guard Jose Alvarado delivered a clear warning to Wembanyama.

“I think that’s not basketball,” Alvarado told reporters, via Zach Braziller of the New York Post. “That’s something that they gotta look at. But he got away with one. That’ll be the last one.”

Brunson brushed off questions about the incident in his postgame press conference.

“Whatever you saw is what you saw,” the All-Star point guard told reporters.

Wembanyama had his best game of the series in Game 3, recording 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks. Brunson also scored 32 points, shooting 11 of 25 from the field in the Knicks’ 115-111 loss at Madison Square Garden.
