Video Has Fans Convinced Caitlin Clark 'Can't Stand' Fever Coach Stephanie White
Does Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark want a new coach for the rest of the 2026 season? That's a legitimate question fans are asking on social media this week.
Clark led the Fever to a much-needed win over the Washington Mystics on Monday, knocking down a 3-pointer to give her squad a 78-76 lead with 1.2 seconds remaining. It was the Iowa legend's first signature moment of the 2026 season.
"Sometimes we take great players, and certainly generational talent, for granted," Fever coach Stephanie White said after the game. "What she did was incredible for us. She's going to have many more moments like that. I know she is. And we needed this one tonight."
Even though White raved about Clark during her postgame press conference, Indiana fans are convinced there's tension brewing behind the scenes.
Several fans are analyzing a slow-motion video of Clark interacting with White after knocking down the go-ahead shot against the Mystics. Some people are convinced the former No. 1 pick and her head coach are on bad terms.
"They really can't stand each other," one fan said.
"Watch Caitlin's facial expression change as she low fives Stephanie White after that game winner. Goes from smiling to no facial expression & no eye contact with SW, back to smiling," another person wrote on X.
"One can only imagine if CC had a coach inspiring confidence, not turmoil? Elite players win clutch games," a social media user added. "If you're not going to focus on them, then either get rid of the elite talent or find a new team to coach. Ownership will make that call before long. I'm betting CC stays."
People are going overboard with Caitlin Clark takes.
Former Fox Sports host Jason Whitlock is convinced Clark has already played her final game in a Fever uniform.
"Last night felt like Caitlin Clark's last game with Stephanie White and/or the Indiana Fever," Whitlock said. "CC wanted to play the ENTIRE game. She appeared to check herself back in at top of 2nd QTR only to be pulled immediately. Broadcast crew appeared to turn down halftime interview with Clark to talk with White. White immediately criticizes Clark's defense. The energy between Clark and White and Clark and assistant coaches after making game-winner was unemotional and extremely low."
We personally find this take from Whitlock to be a bit premature.
The Fever have zero incentive to get rid of Clark. Not only is she their most marketable player, she hasn't even hit her ceiling yet. She's the definition of an untouchable asset.
