Twitter reacts to bombshell news out of Louisville
Thousands took to Twitter to express their feelings about Louisville’s latest basketball scandal Wednesday, joining a chorus weighing in on the federal investigation that has not only rocked the Cardinals, but could shake all of Division I to its core.
The announcement that Louisville men’s basketball coach Rick Pitino and Athletics Director Tom Jurich would likely be fired in the coming weeks drew praise from some corners of the college basketball world, but for people closer to Pitino and Louisville Wednesday was somber.
Here are some reactions to Wednesday’s events:
Rick Pitino is a friend of 35-yrs. I’m crushed today for U of L, the state & my friend. We’ve had two elite programs in KY forever. Damn.

I will never say a bad word about Coach P because have gave me a chance to play college ball. What happened at UL has no impact on me!

Nothing to say other than Thank You to Tom Jurich and his family! They made being an athlete at UofL a special privilege!

I have nothing but the utmost respect for Tom Jurich and the love he has for the student-athletes at the University of Louisville. #GOAT

Will be interesting to see how @NCAA handles the investigative report of @FBI ? Will @GoCards ultimately get death penalt ?

For some UK fans to say Pitino's jersey should be taken down at Rupp is a joke. He resurrected the program. pic.twitter.com/9ZumSBXMtp

We will one day look back at the last 8 years of the UK-UL basketball rivalry with Cal and Rick and say they were the "Golden Years"

On Rick Pitino, a colossal waste of talent & a complete disgrace. https://t.co/baEqCRtU8B

Tom Jurich's support for Rick Pitino is ironclad. He was told to fire Coach P multiple times over months; always replied "If he goes, I go." https://t.co/huWnEdWct3

Ironic to me that some Kentucky fans are celebrating the downfall of Rick Pitino, who led the resurrection of UK's program following this: pic.twitter.com/hCJ9UCNPGY

PAT DOOLEYIf Rick Pitino is fired with cause, he will leave more than $55 million on the table.

A week and a half ago, Rick Pitino was the guest picker on GameDay. Today, it appears he'll be free for any ESPN assignments.
