Ex-General Quinten Brown stars in Lindsey Wilson rout
Former Lafayette standout Quinten Brown scored two long touchdowns to highlight Lindsey Wilson’s 56-7 rout of host Cincinnati Christian on Saturday.
Brown, a first-team All-City selection last season for the state runners-up, caught a 54-yard touchdown pass from Payton Veraldi in the second quarter to give the Blue Raiders a 21-0 lead. It was Brown’s second TD catch of the season.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound freshman capped the blowout victory by returning a punt 66 yards for a score. It was only the sixth punt-return touchdown in Lindsey Wilson history.
Brown was one of many offensive weapons for a Lafayette team last season that went 13-2 and reached the Class 6A state championship game for a second consecutive year. Brown caught 68 passes for 1,099 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior. He had the winning score in Lafayette’s 48-47 state semifinal victory over Scott County, catching a Walker Wood screen pass and turning it into a 49-yard touchdown with 1:38 remaining in the game.
Wood is now a freshman QB at Kentucky.
Lindsey Wilson is an NAIA school located in Columbia, Ky. The Blue Raiders improved to 5-0 with the victory. Their next game is Saturday, Oct. 14 at Kentucky Christian in Grayson.
