Eastern Kentucky limits football attendance during pandemic. Four home games ahead.
Eastern Kentucky University on Tuesday announced fan capacity limits and guidelines for home football games this season. The Colonels are currently scheduled to play four games at Roy Kidd Stadium in Richmond this fall, beginning with Houston Baptist on Oct. 3.
Fan capacity will be limited to 20 percent in both the outdoor seating areas and boxes at Roy Kidd Stadium unless changes are made based on updated public health information regarding COVID-19, according to a news release from the school.
Seating at Roy Kidd Stadium has been adjusted in order to promote social distancing. Some season ticket holders have had their seats moved to different spots within their section.
Some single-game tickets will be sold in pods of two or four for each game at EKUSports.com and can be purchased up to two hours prior to kickoff. Tickets will not be sold at the stadium on game day. Tailgating will not be permitted on campus and there will be no shuttle service from parking lots to the stadium.
Face coverings will be required for entry and fans will have their temperatures read by a thermal device before being allowed into the stadium. Face coverings will be required at all times except when fans are eating or drinking. Concessions will be available.
Up to 1,000 tickets will be reserved for students for each home game. Students will be given one ticket per student ID at Gate 1.
In its release, EKU announced “Fans with pre-existing health conditions, or those who are at a greater risk, should consider not attending on-campus sporting events during this time. It can’t be guaranteed that fans will not be exposed to COVID-19.”
Additional information on EKU’s updated protocols for home football games can be found at EKUSports.com.
