KSU names Dickens head football coach
Wayne Dickens has been named Kentucky State's head coach after leading the team on an interim basis this season, the school announced Tuesday.
The Thorobreds (6-5, 4-5 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) put together a winning season for the first time in three years. And KSU's defense ranked 17th in the NCAA's Division II.
Dickens was the receivers coach in 2008 and took on the roles of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach this season.
"It's exciting to be named head coach," Dickens said. "But looking back, it feels like a four-month interview. Now the hard work simply continues."
