Former NFL wide receiver Mike Furrey will be named the new head football coach at Kentucky Christian University on Friday, according to a report from WSAZ-TV in Huntington, W.Va.
Furrey played seven years in the NFL from 2003 through 2009 with St. Louis, Detroit and Cleveland. He played in 94 games, catching 221 passes for 2,298 yards and seven touchdowns. He started this season with the Washington Redskins but was placed on injured reserve after suffering a concussion.
Furrey, 33, played collegiately for two years at Ohio State before transferring to Northern Iowa.
Kentucky Christian's varsity football program began play in 2008. The Knights, who play in the Mid-South Conference, finished 0-11 this season under Coach Kevin Cristello.
